The family may be seen as the basic institutional unit that makes up the society. The family is the place where individuals are groomed.
In our world today, there exist different types and nature of family. We have families that are headed by single moms, we have families where we find many wives, we have those have just the father and children as members, to mention but few. In all this what matters most is the bound there share and the roles they play in each others life. In the family, one ought to have a feeling of belonging.
Having good families helps a lot in developing a healthy society. This so because the family as mentioned earlier is has the responsibility of socialisation. Socialisation is the process of learning the acceptable ways of the society. The traditions, norms and values of the society are conveyed to the young generation in the family. The family also has the responsibility of providing for the needs of the young generation to make them useful to the society.
One major cause of social disorder in our society is family disorganisation. A lot of people have the view that the family is an irrelevant and negligible institution. This can be seen in the many negative characters of family members towards their family like, ignoring their role in the family. This is the main reason why both young and matured individuals are not properly groomed, becoming threats to the society.
